Indur-O-Manush – A tale of friendship, ambition and aspiration

Indur-O-Manush is a play based on the Twentieth Century American Novelist John Steinbeck’s ‘Of Mice And Men’. Set in the backdrop of Californian rustic farm life it portrays the dream of the workers and how they get shattered. The clever, wiry George Milton and the lumbering and powerful Lennie Small, move South from Weed to work on a ranch in Soledad, California as they have recently escaped from a farm where Lennie was wrongly accused of rape. The story revolves round their ambition of owning their own ranch, and the obstacles that stand in their way. A tempting dream apparently unattainable but exceedingly attractive in nature. The play is a sensitive approach to complexities of human relationships. It is a tale of friendship, ambition and aspiration, which ultimately succumbs to predestined cruelty though humane sacrifice.
